The universe has blessed human beings with amazing powers. Sales reps can harness that power to attract success in their profession in addition to their personal lives. If you can develop success in one area, you can easily transfer it into another arena. Sales reps have enjoyed success at some point in their lives whether in their schooling days, other sales jobs or in sports, drama or whatever extra-curricular activities. No matter what kind of sales slump any rep may be experiencing or perhaps the shape of the economy at large, they can execute the same parameters for success that worked in the past and apply it to their sales position. Sales reps spend considerable amount of time in their profession, whether at work or at home, they are impacted by their performance or non-performance. So why not adopt the same universal power that brought them success in the past to their current position. It takes some creative thinking and cross-referencing which stimulates the brain into action, that what it lives for, stimulation. Sales reps should give their brain what it craves, stimulation to guide them down the path of consistent success.

It’s common practice for organizations to employ motivational speakers and sales trainers to inspire their sales reps. It’s widely accepted that it usually works, but its results are short-lived and not sustained for a long period. It makes sense that emotions get stirred up in the moment, the reps become energized and rejuvenated, therefore momentarily inspired they put forth their very best efforts for a few weeks. However do the prospect companies they are selling into particularly care that they just received training. Most likely not, the sales reps enter back into the usual sales cycle. Once the reps experience the usual pushback from the prospects, they simply revert back to their old ways as if the training never took place at all. To make external sources of inspiration last longer for sales training, the reps themselves must understand the dynamics of how the human body works in respect to emotions. The sales reps must be in touch with their own emotions and understand how their body communicates to them through action.

Sales reps can take a monumental step towards success by searching deep within themselves for inspiration. Success is within their grasps if they can harness the huge power inside of them. If they want to be successful, they have to truly believe they have the power within them. Self-belief is critical, there can be no half-measures, they have to be fully committed to do whatever it takes. Just discovering the power potential within serves to open up the doors to so many more possibilities. Inspiration opens up doors in many different directions that you may have never thought possible. Realization of the huge force inside of you will make you see things in a different light. It presents the ability to turn negatives into positives. Some sales reps fail to succeed because they don’t tap into the inspirational source within that any human being has access to. If sales reps look deep within themselves, they can find the keys to success in their field.

The process of selling is about emotions and connections. If sales reps are able to make a strong emotional connection with the decision maker, it increases their chances of buying. The buyer tries to fill an emotional void that the product or solution hopefully addresses. The sales rep tries to fill his or her emotional void with the joyous feeling of happiness not just for the commission involved, but because they are helping the client with what they need, well we hope so anyway. A sales rep that sells something knowing that it doesn’t work or one that misrepresents themselves in other to get the deal will invite the laws of the universe, also known as Karma. If sales reps don’t service their clients adequately, it will come back to haunt them sooner or later. Clients will always remember a negative experience and with today’s widespread social media tools, it can be disastrous. Top producers use positive vibes to build their business for tomorrow’s world, not just for the sake of momentary gain today.

Sales reps play a vital role not just to themselves and organizations they serve indirectly and directly, but also to society in large. Many people in society are petrified at the prospect of having to sell for a living. They have no idea how sales reps can get up every day and have to deal with rejection on a constant basis. Some feel that it’s beneath them to have such a career. Sales reps control their income to a certain degree and that inspires them to do what they have to. The freedom to control their own income inspires reps, knowing that around the corner could always be that life-changing opportunity that will propel their careers to the next level. Some may even be aspire to a management position and help train other sales people. Sales reps are also inspired to make an impactful difference in people’s lives, Steve Jobs was one such person. Even in times of setback, he never lost sight of his goal and dedication to the consumer. Sales is responsibility to serve others and do what many don't want to do.

The inspirational force within protects sales reps from all the sources of negative energy that seek to weaken them and rob them of their power. When reps become weak, they become malleable to negative thinking and defeatist principles. The inspirational voice driving you from inside must silence any automatic negative thoughts immediately. Negativity permeates sales people without them even knowing its drastic consequences. The primary reason is that even though reps try their best not to dwell on rejection, the brain tries to protect them from going through the same experience of disappointment so it avoids putting them in situations in which they may experience failure or let-down again. So to protect them, it influences to avoid doing things that they need to undertake to be successful. It’s the reason for the saying that some sales reps can be their own worst enemy by their negative thinking. Therefore self-awareness is critical, fully comprehending the urgency to stay positive in a negative environment.

Inspiration is instrumental since it involves other people or other factors. Therefore if you fail to accomplish your goals, you are not only letting yourself down, you may be letting others down. In times when you may be running low on enthusiasm, it helps and can make an impactful difference if you can see a picture or recall the people who inspired you in the first place. Sometimes in your battle to be successful in sales, you become self-centered, which is not necessarily a negative thing since you have to brace yourself for battle on a daily basis, however you must recall it’s not just about you, there’s more in the picture. Developing persistence is increasing your mental fortitude. Just as people go to the gym to build their muscles for peak performance, as a sales rep, you should desire to build your mental muscle. It’s going to take sweat and hard effort, sometimes the journey may seem unbearable, it just looks like everything goes against you, perhaps a contact you have been working with a long time leaves the company or you’ve tried multiple contacts in a company with no measurable progress in sight after months. That’s the unpredictable nature of the sales profession, as long as you are breathing, you must fight on. Giving up must never be an option. Others have faced far greater seemingly insurmountable challenges than you are facing. The same doubts and indifference crossed their minds, it’s perfectly natural, you are a human being. What you do when you face doubt is what counts, front up to your challenges and overcome them, defeat them with persistence. Don’t turn your back to adversity, front up! Others have done it, you can too.
