How do you manage your business as a whole? How do you manage your employees? How do you manage yourself? Spend time to analyze your management techniques. What are you doing well. What areas do you need to focus attention on. Do you have any challenges managing certain members of your staff? How is your entire management team and process? Change places and contemplate things from an employee perspective. Are you listening to your staff when they voice concerns or are you just pretending that you are. Do you have an open door policy to show your staff that you care and that you are not only accessible, but reasonable? How do customers see the management of your establishment?

Choose one area in your business process that you need to improve. Do your staff need more specific training in an area that impacts performance? How would remarkable improvement make a difference. How would even just a slight improvement help. Do you have an area that you need to polish your skills on. Are there areas for your sales channel or customer service to improve whereby benefiting the customer experience. There’s always something that needs improvement, even the best athletes still practice on areas they are weak on to improve their all-around game. Focusing on improvement alone alerts your mind to work harder to get better and stronger at it.

Assign someone in your staff to identify new marketing channels. It could be a strategy you tried before, but didn’t work out. Maybe it was bad timing, bad luck or you didn’t stick with it long enough. It’s common for some businesses to abandon certain marketing strategies too early before it’s hard an opportunity to really work. These days patience and time is needed to allow marketing to work, provided you’ve done your homework of course and are targeting the right channels. Spend some time identifying new channels either where you can reach your ideal customer profiles or an entirely new arena that shows some potential, perhaps some untapped market ready to be plucked.
